Alstom has announced a 28 million euro contract to supply traction systems to a new line on the Nanjing Metro system.

The Shanghai Alstom Transport Electrical Equipment (SATEE) joint venture will deliver the technology for the Line 4 phase I project – a 34 km-long line connecting the east and west of the city.

Line 4 is scheduled to be put into commercial operation in October 2015

Announcing the deal, Dominique Pouliquen, senior vice president of Alstom Transport Asia Pacific and Alstom China country president, said: “We are very glad that Nanjing Metro has selected Alstom’s advanced traction system. This new contract shows the continued trust of our long-term relationship with Nanjing Metro.”

Alstom has worked on six out of the eight of the network’s lines.
