Alstom unveils new intercity train design

Alstom has released details of its latest long-distance train innovation, the Coradia Liner V200.

Revealing the V200 during the European Mobility Exhibition for Public Transport, Alstom said its new design would “renew the pleasure” of travelling on Europe’s main line rail network.

The V200, which is based on the successful Coradia platform, will be produced as either electric or dual-mode units. The new trains will be equipped with a distributed power traction system and will consume 30 per cent less energy because of their lightweight design. Each vehicle will also be ERTMS compatible.

Alstom is actively targetting the V200 at some of France’s major intercity routes, including Paris-Clermont-Ferrand and Paris-Orléans-Limoges-Toulouse (POLT).

On board the V200, which will be capable of operating at 200 km/h, will feature a children’s play area and restaurant/bar and hospitality areas.
