Amberley's Industrial Trains Day Sunday 21st April 2013

Sunday April 21[SUP]st[/SUP] sees Amberley Museum’sSpring Industrial Trains event, primarily aimed at the enthusiast.

Much of the collection will be out and about withthe opportunity to get close up and personal with some very rare locos.

We hope to have a visiting diesel loco from Bredgarand it will be interesting to see if anyone can work out the connection with adiesel loco in the Amberley collection! On the standard gauge demonstrationline we should have the Simplex 4wDM loco ‘Burt’ in action at various timeduring the day.

Our popular ‘Behind-the-Scenes’tours willtake place, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, but for the first timewe will be able to offer visitors (over 18’s of age) hands-on experience of atrue industrial railway.

Our ‘Driver-for-a-Fiver’ scheme will allow twotrips at the controls of an internal combustion loco along a stretch of linenot normally accessible, or seen. Under the accompaniment and guidance of anexperienced driver, there will also be the opportunity for photographs to betaken, and we hope that this will raise much-needed funds to continue our workin restoring and maintaining the collection. As always, this is subject toavailability of locos and volunteers (and weather!) but we hope to have two locos available forthis. Slots will be bookable on the day.
