    Hello

whilst reading about the old Amlwch branch line from bangor i decided to follow it using google maps and street view when i was shocked to see what looks like a diesel and maybe some kind of tanker wagon attched.
Can anyone tell me why there seems to still be a diesel left over on the Amlwch branch line at Llanerchymedd town?

I thought the branch shut years ago but didnt expect to see that there.

    cheers

    Dan

    Hi
The tank wagon is an ex Associated Octel item.
The 'third' diesel is Eliseg, a Fowler ex Llangollen railway
The other shunters may be ex Octel items.

    Regards.

    Frank

I can't help with the original question, but would dearly love to see this line re opened. I have many great memories of my dear father and my equally dear grandfather driving dmus on this branch. I was allowed into the cab once we had passed Gaerwen and on to the branch proper. A lovely line.

There are still people trying to make something happen, I met one a few days ago. Unfortunatly I was working and didn't get the opportunity to ask questions.

I believe it is in a similar log-jam to that the Welsh Highland sat in for many years, with various interested bodies making counter-proposals and no-one able to decuide what should go forward - but I have no up-to-date information, maybe something has moved on.
