Arriva has been awarded a contract to operate trains in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship in northern Poland.

The public transport provider will run services on four electrified lines connecting Toruń Główny to Iława and Kutno, and Bydgoszcz, to Tczew and Piła.

Operating across 50 stations, the tender builds on Arriva’s existing presence in the region.

Dominic Palleschi, director of central and eastern Europe at Arriva, said: “We will provide a number of non-stop services which are beneficial to the economy in northern Poland as they link larger towns and cities quickly and efficiently.

“We will offer value for money ticketing options for customers, and aim to encourage more people to travel with us more often, and to sustain this growth in passenger numbers.”

The two-year contract, which will start from December 15, is worth 22 million euros.
