Aspinall L&Y railway Class 5 Tank Engines

    Hi All

    I have added some photos of L&Y railway Aspinall Class 5 Tank Engines, including this particular engine:-
    46762 Preston 5/3/1950 (David Taylor)
    This was the only surviving engine of a small stock of locomotives acquired by the LMS from the Wirral Railway in 1923. It was originally a Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway (L&YR) engine, sold to Wirral before amalgamation and actually formed part of the L&YR Class 5 commencing at No. 50621. The reason for the odd number is that all Wirral engines were renumbered by the LMS in the LNWR series.
