The annual AER Road & Rail Steam Gala is this coming weekend - from the leaflet:

"An opportunity to see all Lord Braybrooke's 10 1/4" gauge steam and diesel locomotives, East Anglian Traction Engine Society's full size and miniature Traction Engines, The Saffron Walden & District Society of Model Engineer's 5" and 7 1/4" gauge Trains, Steam lorries, vintage cars, stationary engines, craft stalls and on Sunday only, the Saffron Walden High School Jazz Band.

Also vintage swing boats, roundabout and bouncy castle (charges apply)"

There appears to be an entry charge (£2 adults, £1 children) on top of the normal train fares.

Further information on the website: <http://www.Audley-End-Railway.co.uk/road-and-rail-gala/>

(No official connection - just a regular punter who happened to pick up a leaflet while we were there on Sunday afternoon - it's our closest steam fix :)

I went last year and it was good fun. Tempted to pop along this weekend for a couple of hours if the weather is reasonable.

A taster of the gala for those who missed it :) (Not my video, but it made my son's day to see himself in it helping out on guard duties.)
