A few things to do in Bath on Bank Holiday Monday gave the excuse to call into Bitton for a few hours, a Railway i was unlikely to visit in any other circumstances but a pleasant way to spend a few hours all the same, a small selection of pics can be found here: http://david1984.fotopic.net/c1855903.html

    Nice photos.

To add a few comments - the graffiti on the 4F actually says "Rust in peace" - even more apt! Littleton no5 has been in that condition (albeit in various positions around the yard) for at least 12 years and as far as I'm aware there are no current plans to do anything to it - mainly as the Avonside has been under restoration for the same period. Maybe once that is finished it may make its way into the works. The 73 was due on the diesel roster on the Saturday but has suffered electrical faults recently and was substituted again. As I understand it the second platform at Bitton is being brought back into use subject to inspection - the gala last Autumn had trains being shunted in and out of the platform but with passengers unable to get on or off trains as it wasn't passed for use. There is a fair climb from Avon Riverside back up to Bitton so most of the small locos used make some good noise coming back with 6 on.
