    I'm surprised that a thread has not been created for this event as it now only five days away. So here it is and hopefully this thread will bring it to other enthusiast's attention.

    More information of the Diesel Gala are available via this link;

    Also, in my opinion, Barrow Hill Roundhouse is always worth a visit. There is always something of interest for all aspects of our Railway Enthusiasm, be it the preservation of most forms of traction or stored modern traction.

    Visiting Diesel locomotives to this event are on the move or lined up to be moved soon.

    Class 42 "Warship" D832 'ONSLAUGHT' from the West Somerset Railway has been moved/or still en route by road.
    More information and picture, for those with subscription access to the excellent website Wnxx.com, via this link;

    Class 35 "Hymek" D7076 from the East Lancashire Railway should be moving by road today.
    Yesterday, Tuesday 14th April, Class 68 68001 'Evolution' moved south from Kingmoor to Crewe and is set to move on to Barrow Hill soon.
    DBS are supplying/should supply a Class 60, most likely "Powering Drax" silver liveried 60066, for the event. Hearing also that GBRf are set to have a Class 66 attend for part of the weekend's proceedings.
    Quite an impressive line up in my opinion, and I'm looking forward attending the event. Weather forecast, especially for Saturday, seems to be "playing ball" at the moment also.

    Good morning everyone and thank you to SteamHawk216 for taking the time to start this thread. First of all, although advance ticket sales have now closed, there will be plenty of on-the-day tickets available on both Saturday and Sunday, with adult tickets priced at £14.50. Family, Barrow Hill Member and Child ticket options also available - please visit www.barrowhill.org for full price listings. The show is open from 10am to 5pm on both days although those holding advance tickets will be able to come in from 9.30am onwards. A free bus service will operate a half hourly shuttle service between Chesterfield railway station and the Roundhouse from approximately 9.20am on both days.

    Now to the exciting bit! DRS 68001 'Evolution' and the West Somerset Railway's Warship D832 arrived yesterday. Class 27 066 and Class 26 007 are already here. The ELR's Hymek D7076 should arrive at the Roundhouse this afternoon and also due to arrive over the next couple of days are the DBS silver liveried Class 60 066, GBRF Class 66 771 and Colas Class 60 002. Plenty of 'rarities' for you all to get a close up look at and ride behind. Our thanks go to all the commercial operators and heritage organisations who have provided these locos for the gala.

    We plan to operate two trains on the shuttle passenger services - one air-braked, one vacuum-braked. Note that the Colas 60 is only available on the Saturday. All times are approximate and Barrow Hill reserves the right to change and amend the details below without notice.

    Saturday
    ...
    10.00 - 11.10 GBRF 66
    12.00 - 12.50 DRS 68

    15.40 - 16.50 DBS 60
    10.00 - 13.00 D832
    14.00 - 16.50 D7076
    10.00 - 16.40 Both 26007 and 27066 as tail locos.

    Sunday
    ...
    10.00 - 11.50 GBRF 66
    12.30 - 14.20 DRS 68
    15.00 - 16.40 DBS 60
    10.00 - 13.00 D832
    14.00 - 16.50 D7076
    10.00 - 16.40 Both 26007 and 27066 as tail locos.

    We will also be offering cab rides in the Roundhouse Class 03 shunter and the Baby Deltic D5910 currently being recreated by the Baby Deltic Project will be on display on the turntable. Class 24 D5054 will be on display just inside the entrance to the event. There will be a number of trade stalls inside the Roundhouse along with a Real Ale Bar and the Roundhouse Café and Shop will of course be open too.

    All in all it promises to be a great gala - and the weather forecast isn't bad either!

    Thanks for the info. This looks to be a great event. Regarding DBS 60 066, it was still showing at Lindsey earlier today on TOPS and yesterday it ran very late on Westerleigh - Lindsey, so there may be a problem with it and therefore it remains to be seen whether it will show up at Barrow Hill.

    Hi Steve, I can update you on the DBS Class 60 - sadly it is unable to attend the "Rarities" Diesel Gala but DBS have very kindly sent 092 in its place so it's still looking like a fabulous line up! I'm sitting here twiddling my thumbs waiting for a photograph to upload onto my computer so I can post it on here to prove we have a Class 60 on site!

    Many thanks, shame about 60066 but this will still be a great event, I'm sure. All the best, Steve.
