Carillion has been named as the preferred bidder for the first phase of Battersea Power Station’s regeneration.

The £400 million mixed-use development will form part of a multi-billion pound vision to not only transform the iconic power station but also extend Northern Line Tube services.

If plans for the Northern Line extension are approved, construction could begin in 2015. Proposals include new stations at Battersea and Nine Elms.

Carillion Chief Executive Richard Howson, said: “We are delighted to have been selected as the preferred bidder for this prestigious project, which I believe reflects Carillion’s reputation for delivering high-quality, value for money projects.”

Rob Tincknell, said: “After a great deal of consideration, we believe Carillion is best placed to deliver the ambition, precision and rigour that people rightly expect from a scheme which will flank a building as famous and distinguished as Battersea Power Station.”
