It was Black Prince, arrived at Crewe HC around midday today, If it was seen heading along the A500 'away' from Crewe thats because loads that size come off the M6 at junction 16 and have to travel to the south of Crewe to Nantwich along the A500 and then back into Crewe from the west.

Is No:92203 going to Crewe for an overhaul - or is something wrong. It doesn't seem to have run on the GWSR for a while.

    From the GWSR website

"...David Shepherd's 9F 'Black Prince' has left for Crewe to have new tender wheels fitted and some remedial work on the boiler, including fitting new superheaters."

Doesn't seem to be very lucky with its superheaters, does it? I seem to recall it had problems with them when it visited the MHR a few years ago.

had problems?? i would say it did, it had most of them blanked off the first time it visited , we had to make up a set before it was any use to us, by the time it left, it was a very decent bit of kit , apart from the very poor brakes when running le , we dragged Swanage down the i in 60 returning to shed one evening, even with it giving full brake
