Our first special event of the year - Road Meets Rail takes place on 17/18 July. Step back in time for a weekend of steam powered demonstrations and vintage fairground fun. Traction engines, road rollers, steam wagons, showman’s engines, crane engines and more – bringing Horsted Keynes station to life with recreations of a bygone age.

Tickets are now on sale - discounts for advance purchase, but tickets are also available on the day.

    Details here: https://www.bluebell-railway.com/road-meets-rail/

Timetable: as far as I can see, there will be a two train public service (six departures each way), with a demonstration goods and a dining train running in the other paths. There is music in the evening at HK on Saturday night and it looks like anyone staying for that will be able to get a late train back to either EG or SP.

The loco roster notes that 847, 65, 30541 and 80151 are in service across the two days. Allocations yet unknown

If I were a betting man, I'd suggest 847 and 80151 on the public service trains; 541 on the goods and 65 on the Saturday dining charter; probably the same on Sunday though maybe 541 and 65 would swap.

Is the Q-class on the catering sets both days then?

    So looking at it:

Saturday - basically 847 (09:30, 12:00, 2:30 and 4:50 ex-SP) and 80151 (10:45, 1:15, 4:00 ex-SP) on the service trains (847 also covering the evening public service for those going to the mini "Horsted Fest"). 541 works up to HK on the back of the 09:30 service, then does a daytime wedding service and an evening dining service, neither of which is shown in the public timetable. 65 works up to HK on the 10:45 (with 80151) then detaches and shunts at HK until working back at 3:30pm.

Sunday - 30541 works the 09:30 departure to EG and back; then does a lunchtime dining service not shown in the public timetable. 847 works up to HK on the back of the 09:30 ex-SP; then the 10am back to SP, then the 12 noon, 2.30pm and 5.00pm services ex-SP as shown in the timetable. 80151 works the 10:45, 1:15 and 4:00pm services (shown as 65 in the timetable). 65 does roughly the same as Saturday, i.e. up on the 10:45 departure ex-SP; detach at HK and shunt all day; work back at 3:40pm.

Well, that's what the crew duties say, anyway!
