Does anyone know if this trip is still going head. Tyseley - didcot returning via lickey incline

the loco was meant to be 70013 but that failed an exam. will their be a replacement loco

with 9466 still banking the train from bromsgrove.

As mentioned elsewhere, since it's a Vintage Trains tour, one of Tyseley's Castles would be the logical choice. I'd guess EoME would be first choice, since she's TLW's own loco, and a bit stronger than Nunney, too. The alternative would be to postpone the tour until Ollie is fixed. We will see...

Are there any provisional timings yet, as I am hoping to see the tour up the Lickey, after visiting the GWSR?

Your best sources are the Vintage Trains website and UKsteam.info. Might be a bit early yet - have a look on Sunday evening, since UKsteam.info is often updated over the weekend.

Don't forget "Lizzie" is currently at Tyseley. I wouldn't know if it is currently serviceable or indeed guaged for the whole route but it has certainly been up the Lickey before when it was banked by a cl66 diesel.

The tour is going ahead with a replacement loco and 9600 will still be the banker.

thats great news if its true to be going ahead. i thought the some of the castles where out of gauge on the cheltenham to bromsgrove route? a good replacement would be 60163 or the use of 6201

the guy who said he is on it, have you recieved tickets or timings yet?

I'm also on it and haven't yet recieved tickets or timings Stephen.

You'll find that 60163 is already on an excursion that day if you look at uk steam info website, plus it is only operated by DBS crews whereas the Vintage Trains excursion is crewed by WCRC.

I look forward to seeing what replacement loco Tyseley will use

If that is the case I will have to find some funds and try and find a spare ticket on this!

6201 has to be the favourite for this, its already confirmed for the open day and so there for may hopefully work a shakespeare, but that is only wild speculation which is of course banned on this forum.

If a Castle is out of guage, then a Hall certainly is - wider over the cylinders. I'd very much like it to be Lizzie, so hope Ralph & 6:05 Special are correct.

Mind you, it's not so long ago that a pair of Halls went up the Lickey, not to mention KEII (though banked by a diesel), so anything's possible.

Castles & Halls are IN gauge at least northbound as 4965 + 5043 returned from Bristol that way Sat night/ Sun morning, it's Southbound on the Bristol line (Cam & Dursley) where the problem lies.

A Princess going tender first on the mainline at speed... how often does that happen.

now close your mind and imagine... it could almost be a garratt :)

Also booked on the tour. The three passengers in this house are all hoping that the replacement will be 5043. Second choice would be 5690.
