Following on from the thread on Victorian coaches at Swanage....

What is the progress with the restoration of the Bulleid coaches at Swanage?

I believe 4365 underwent a contract restoration and is now back at Swanage, when is it due to enter service?

How is the restoration of 5761 progressing? I believe it is at Rampart engineering.

Has 1457 moved into the goods shed for restoration yet as planned, and what are the plans for 4366?

My understanding of the situation is as follows:-

4365 - being internally fitted out, the project team expect it to enter traffic next year.

5761 - at Rampart being stripped down. The rot to the steel plate above the solebar is worse than had been first thought, and the vehicle has been dismantled more than anticipated to remove this. The new steel plate is starting to go in, and once this is done work on the body structure and panelling can start in earnest. Anticipated to return to Swanage around Easter and the project team hope it will be ready for next September's steam gala.

1457 - I'm not aware of any work being undertaken on this one at the moment, although I'm not around Swanage as often as some on here so I may be wrong.

    4366 - awaiting funding.

    Regards

    Nick

thank you for the update . It is nice to see that these vehicles are getting some TLC and restoration and may even tempt me down to visit . With absolutlely no preference as to livery but what's the thought ?

also of the vehicles are either of these being restored the Bournemouth Belle vehicles where the body side covers the solebars

Livery will be BR(S) green (with no yellow stripe above first class or such modern embellishments). I'm not sure if any of them had/will have the skirting over the solebars, I'll try to find out though.
