You could always try looking at the RTC site, which has a route description for the new tour.

Our train leaves Lancaster at around 07:20 'double' headed by 44871 and 45407, and heads south along the West Coast Main Line (WCML) to Preston where we stop to collect further customers. We leave the West Coast Main Line at Euxton Junction and take the line to Bolton, where we stop to pick up further customers. Soon we will arrive at Manchester Victoria.

We depart climbing the formidable Miles Platting incline. At Denton we call for water. We pass through Stockport before commencing the long climb to Buxton where we have over two hours to visit this attractive spa town.

We depart Buxton and climb up to Chinley, from here we join the Hope Valley Line. We pass through magnificent Edale and then on to Grindleford. We pass under the Pennines at Cowburn Tunnel, from here its downhill to Sheffield.

At Meadowhall we take the Barnsley line through Denton to Wakefield, we bypass Leeds by taking the avoiding line at Engine Shed Junction. We pass through Dewsbury and Hebden Bridge before climbing to Copy Pitt Summit. At Blackburn we enjoy a short break.

We climb steeply out of Blackburn through Darwen up to Sough Tunnel and on through Bolton to Manchester Victoria. Our train will be diesel hauled from Manchester through Bolton to Preston and Lancaster.

    Thanks

I think the location in second last paragraph is wrong I would say Darton rather than Denton

Correct Darton is between Barnsley and Wakefield.

Come to that, you've already passed through Cowburn Tunnel before you reach Edale. They mean Totley Tunnel.

We all know that RTC can be slow in updating their web site, perhaps a phone call to them might shed some light on the alterations before making assumptions.

Steve - Mr Moody - if I don't post perhaps you won't accuse me of a vendetta!

But I'm willing to bet that the change is not of RTC's making

Hemingfield tunnel lateral track shift???? .................... NR again??

Tour now sounds like the previous Buxton trip earlier this year. No run on the Barnsley branch, no pass through Dewsbury and Copy pit missed out. Glad I didnt book all these would be the reason i would have booked.

What time would we have been getting back to Lancaster with the full route? even now I may have to bail out at either Wigan or Preston to ensure getting the last train south as the Lancaster connection is -3 minutes.

Yes - these were my reasons for booking. Well, at least we are still going to Buxton albeit on a circular route that's nothing like the original publicity. Whether it's NR or RTC that's messing us about, sadly the outcome is the same. Perhaps the answer is to run Mystery Tours (as with 4472 a while back). Then if you don't know the destination or the route, no-one can complain. The diners get their meal where-ever they go. No doubt, all will be revealed when the tickets arrive.

Not everyone may be aware but apparently the track through Hemingfield tunnel near Meadowhall has shifted in the ballast and a train of Mk2s hit the tunnel roof - so if you have a Mk2 in the consist - you are out of gauge.

Don't know which contractor has the responsbility for the line - but I do know that Network Rail have the responsibility for the line itself.

Hemmingfield tunnel is between Elsecar and Wombwell a very short tunnel 54 yards. Cant believe it was left to such a tight gauge. Hope it can be re ballasted and we get some steam up here soon..

Probably nothing has been done, if the regular traffic is OK why are NR going to bother to spending money just for the odd charter with Mk2s in the consist.
