Commuter train operator CPTM has placed an order for 35 new 8-car trains with CAF.

The contract, worth around 380 million euro, is being funded by the Government of São Paulo, with the first vehicles expected to be delivered in 2015.

CAF is already delivering a number of projects in Brazil, including building 26 electric trains for São Paulo, 15 EMUs for Recife and building a light rail network for Mato Grosso.

In total, CAF has said it is involved in Brazilian projects worth more than 2 billion euros.
