This has been posted on the SD site on the timings page for the first 60103 trip:

"In order to avoid overcrowding and incidents of trespass we have been advised not to publish recommended viewing points or the timetable of when the train will be passing through specific locations.

Steam Dreams respectfully asks that all people who wish to see Flying Scotsman do so from a permitted location and do not trespass on the railway. While we understand interest in Flying Scotsman will be extremely high, we urge those wishing to view it on its tour dates do so from a safe vantage point. It is vital that spectators do not venture onto the railway, particularly when it is on the mainline as a full timetable of regular services will be running. "

I wonder if they will appear on RTT?

Possibly not if SD have been advised not to publicise them. Could be a request from NR to avoid the incidents that marred the inaugural mainline trip.

Wasnt the Tornado/Top Gear run kept very quiet timings-wise?

Don't think RTT existed back then, but I don't think the times came up on UKSteam until after it had happened.

If Network Rail and BTP had done a proper risk assessment for the Kings Cross to York run, then all this secret nonsense would not be needed. St Neots was an obvious problem point, having legitimate public access to a foot crossing. What was wrong with placing a couple of BTP officers there. Good god, you see piles of them at stations when football matches are being played locally.
I think it is an insult to Joe Public, especially those that contributed money towards Scotsman's restoration. I am almost wishing that the thing breaks down, permanently.

It's the local rags that pick up on it and advertise it ! People talk about the hype dying down, but everytime the Scotsman goes somewhere it hasn't been in a while, the whole town will hear about it and flock to see it. I'm dreading what's going to happen when it comes through my local park in Sutton Coldfield next month !

Sadly we live in an age where authority considers it easier to ban things than police and/or educate people abut the situation.

Too true and that has a lot to do with what then may happen if something goes wrong. Duty of care. litigation etc.

Sadly there have been cuts in the Police Forces all over the country. Most of the Police Stations in my local area have closed and one now has a retirement home built over the site. To report any crimes these days you have to seek out the "Mobile Police Station" in Surrey which parks in various public car parks. :Banghead: I don't know how much the BTP was affected but as you say they come out of the woodwork for Football matches. There are certainly plenty about on the Station when Aldershot play at home.

I was hoping to head out and see 60103 on several of the runs in the South as I have the Bank Holiday Week off at the end of the month.
Trouble is there are a number of foot crossings on the Surrey Hills circuit which could really cause problems when 60103 heads that way. In particular I have seen the wrong kind of spectator going along the line side from a crossing at Albury. When I have told the people they shouldn't be going on the line side the reply usually had off in the sentence. I stopped going there some years ago when the numbers started growing to a very dangerous level. If there are people where they shouldn't be when 60103 goes that way NR certainly won't be impressed.

And what about all the man hours that has gone into the loco itself over the last 10 years, clearly you forget the blood, sweat and tears that has taken place over the period of its overhaul. If you feel like that, stay away from it and don't disrespect what other people have put into the project and those who wish to see it, preferably from a safe point of view which I totally encourage obviosuly!

Which clearly will all be wasted along with the millions of pounds of public money if nobody is going to be allowed to see it running on the network with a proper train behind it and not pulling three or four coaches on some single track heritage railway.

How long will this charade continue, until the boiler ticket expires? They might as well stuff it in the NRM and have done with it.

The most iconic steam locomotive in the world kept a secret from the public.............pathetic! :Wtf:

Well if you read the report in the Guardian it says Network Rail will not publish any timings for any of her future journeys. So will they be allocating official photographers to get pictures of her for publicity purposes because nobody else will....
