I notice the Chasewater Railway has a steam gala over the weekend of 27th/28th February and I'm free for the weekend. This is a railway I've never been to before and am considering attending.
Is there someone who is familiar with the railway who could give me their opinion of the place and whether it might be a worthwhile visit from a photography aspect?

    Cheers,

    Paul

    Paul,

It is a nice set up with a real industrial feel away from the stations. Nicely restored engines (think four 0-4-0STs in home fleet at moment) and two sets of freight stock. The line runs through a country park so easy access. Stations are a bit OTT for an industrial line but provide excellent passenger and workshop facilities. Causeway over reservoir is main attraction and being winter should be quite clear of vegetation but please note I haven't been there for nearly two years. The link to Nigel's site above shows a few of the opportunities but there are plenty more.

Free that wend so might a visit myself.

    Regards,

The reservoir is being drained at the moment, so the views of the causeway will look different.
