Looks like it is very late on the run up from Southall. Text from on board saying they are just getting on. 47832 piloting to March.

Another text from onboard says over running engineering works then put behind a stopping train.

But apparently 47 left behind at March so the Duchess is solo. So a silver lining there

A result for those who want proper steam haulage that's for sure.

It amazes me that people will still pay good money to be treated like this.

Be fair John, overrunning engineering works and failed signals are beyond the control of the train operator/tour company and will have affected timetabled services just as badly.

If you read elsewhere just the whole system falling to bits today. 3 platforms out at Waterloo for example on my SWT Twitter feed and ECML delays this morning. But yes people are paying good money, either direct in fares, or indirectly through tax and not getting VfM.

AND...there must be a reason for the 47 to chase to Peterborough, or they would have left her on at March ?? Hope the Duchess is OK ??

Ok, I'm unaware of arrangements at March although the schedule showed diesel on rear from March ?? I don't know, but seems strange to chase and then lose another 22 minutes attaching at Peterborough !! At present, the stay in York will be seriously short cos they won't want to be arriving back at Cambridge at some unearthly hour. A great shame that the empty stock arrived so late

So potentially the punters will have two hours less in York, the prime reason for many for booking I imagine, particularly for the WAGS. They won't be too interested in the whys and the wherefores unfortunately.

possibly the 47 needed to refuel, might have been a good idea to send the duchess on her way, and send the 47 after her to catch up. The line from March to Perterborough hardly has ECML traffic levels.

Unless you are going to the NRM, two hours less in York is a bonus.
