I'm tempted to agree, I don't hear of 66s getting beached at Bromsgrove every day.

When the line is relayed the profile over the summit could be flattened a bit if it is really an issue.

Blimey that was quick, the Leek Post article I mentioned a while ago said the matter would be voted on in about three months!

As you say, plenty to be decided yet, it is still outline so a ways to go....

Can't help wondering if the rejection last time by the elected officials was partly with one eye on the next local council elections so they could say they've fought for jobs in Leek (which it does need of course....)

Now, if someone were trying to take the 66 over a Caldon Canal bridge, there might be a risk!

I did think it unlikely, but thought best to ask those with more knowledge of the CVR than myself, though any reason for banning 66's is fine by me, horrid yank washing machines.

It wouldn't take much to shave the top off the summit. This could easily be done with the upgrade to the track that would be required to take regular heavy stone trains.

That would be sheer madness, it's just a train spotter myth.

As per Lil Bears post a bit further up, here's the article just posted on the Leek post website about the approval for the Barnfields development. The vote was 7 to 2 with 1 abstention, previous vote, just weeks ago, was 11 to 1 against of course! Go figure.....

Still some way to go in fleshing out the details but on the whole good news. Looking forward to more details on the Museum - I assume this will be an expansion of the Knotty Museum currently at Chedd?

That article pretty much sums up what we're up against. A private developer has offered them £200k, in addition to the costs associated with the developments, to help with public services (something the local council should be providing surely?), and yet some of them complain as they want over £600k! As you say though, interesting 6 weeks ago it was 11-1 who rejected it and yet now 6 weeks later 7-2 have accepted it!

The museum we were told at the AGM would be centred on the NSR, though no definitive plans have been created to date for this.

During December is the only time we actively advertise a steam hauled service, so we try to keep a second steam loco in steam ready should anything happen to the rostered loco. Last year 6046 was the reserve loco for the N7, this year the N7 has been the reserve loco for the TKh.

Perhaps it's been told there are escaped lions in the area. :)

This housing development will cost the town dear, there are not enough school places for all the extra people.

It's OK - you have previously advised that no one will want to live there, so there will be no need for school places...

I wondered when Clogger would show up.....

Didn't you tell us that there was no way the application would ever get approval?
