44767 George Stephenson has now arrived at the railway, 34028 Eddystone is due to arrive next week.

71000 Duke of Gloucester and numerous coaches are due to arrive the week after next.

5199's boiler is due to be lifted back into the frames on Monday so should be ready for the gala.

    Regards

    Chris

Will there be a bus connecting service from Stoke station to Froghall station?

As the steam line up was confirmed on 24/8-and the gala weekends are not far off-when can we expect the outstanding diesel visitor(s) to be confirmed?

Would like to be able to decide whether I'm coming on 1,2,3 or 4 days-and that largely depends on 25059's appearance or otherwise and it's mileage each day.

The yard at Cheddleton is starting to fill up now with numerous coaches and locomotives starting to arrive.

So far 44767, the Beavertail, the LMS Saloon and a coach from the ELR have arrived. More coaches are due to arrive at the end of the week.

34028 is due to arrive on tuesday and 71000 on tuesday/ wednesday.

5199's boiler was lifted back into the frames yesterday and should hopefully be on steam test at the weekend.

    Regards

    Chris

A bus service from Stoke station to Froghall is planned, however I can't tell you the regularity of the service that will be available. See if I can find out for you though :)

Apologies if this has already been covered and I've missed it due another senior moment; but are lineside passes going to be available, and if so how do we obtain one?
    Thanks in anticipation

I understand not. Earlier posts indicate that, due to lack of time, insufficient cutting back has been done to allow lineside passes to be issued safely.

Re: Churnet Valley Railway& Moorland & City Railways Cauldon Lowe Branch re-opening G

I've updated my very first post post on this topic, which was the second post on Page 1, with all the latest information for this event.
Lineside passes I believe will be available between Leekbrook and Froghall ONLY. There is no lineside access between Leekbrook and Cauldon due to the number of Limited Clearance areas there are on this section. This is subject to change and Chris will be able to confirm the actual arrangements that are in place.

Re: Churnet Valley Railway& Moorland & City Railways Cauldon Lowe Branch re-opening G

Thanks for that usefull info LilBear, is this likely to be the case in future or a temporary situation until lineside clearence can be undertaken ?, Leekbrook - Froghall is a ex double track formation with plenty of space, from Youtube the Cauldon appears to have only ever been single.

Re: Churnet Valley Railway& Moorland & City Railways Cauldon Lowe Branch re-opening G

I'm not sure tbh. Another reason for not allowing lineside access is at present the crews have limited experience up this section. To have to look out for photographers, some of whom can be stupid (Note, not all!), is an extra burden that would rather be avoided for the time being. There is also several open culverts on the Cauldon line, which is anoter hazard for anybody walking on this section.

After the crews have been given time to get used to operating up the Cauldon line, and further vegetation clearance has occurred, then you never know it may be decided to offer lineside access to photographers. We shall have to wait and see.

Thats by far the most important question I have read on this gala, that and the location of the tea urn (it's november after all) :)...

Is there going to be any nat pres meet up here, apart from the night train ?

I shall be there but not sure in what capacity, I have offered to help out but not been allocated anything yet but plenty of time yet.

If anyone fancies having a go at a Nat Pres mod in person I will be the short slim balding bloke with the beard sat in a corner drinking cider...

Re: Churnet Valley Railway& Moorland & City Railways Cauldon Lowe Branch re-opening G

Yes, but I don't know details.

At Froghall the tea rooms will be open, with a food tent operating alongside them to help cope with the anticipated extra demand.
Cheddleton last thing I heard there would be a catering van.
The Moorlander will also be serving hot food on selected services, though can't confirm menu.
There is planned for a trolley service to be available as well on most services.

Another thing to ask unless Chris can give details before I get an answer?

I'll be there, though will be on the footplate during the daytime. 48624(13) 44767(14/19) 71000(20). Feel free to come and say hi though if you're around.

    Actually

Neil is the xxxx xxx bloke with a xxxx xxxx who definitely doesn't resemble the given description, and who will no doubt be demolishing the odd pint while conducting himself in his usual self effacing manner - seriously Neil what days are you heading that way??

    No 1

Its our annual slide and digi image competition on Saturday 20th - so I will be missing then. Can't miss the comments like "what did you get out of bed for?" or nine marks out of thirty for a shot that someone else gave 100% - both equally inexplicable

    No 2

I shall be heading down sometime - so if a lift is in order there's always a seat going

    No 3

I will have a blindfold with me so that I can be led past that red 8F without actually looking at it - besides in the dark all 8Fs are black!
