Hi all, long time since I've been on this stomping ground. Happy to say it's very busy on my end of the heritage scene :)

There's a loco I'm trying to research but it seems to be a bit of a ghost on the internet. City of Aberdeen, built by Black Hawthorn 1887. Owned by SRPS but apparently at Tanfield.

There seems to be very few pictures or info of it around at the moment, can anyone confirm it's current status and condition? Pictures would be lovely too if possible.

    Thanks in advance.

I last saw it in September 2014, stored in the five road shed.

Indeed, this almost the only information I have to go on. Would it be safe to assume that nothing has changed after these years?

Owned by the Scottish Railways Museum Trust (SRPS core collection) and currently , I believe, well into a 10 year loan to Tanfield.

More info on SRPS museums page:

It's down as "Cosmetic" on the Tanfield web site, so I doubt anything will have changed.

The smokebox door likes like a Barclay fitting. Presumably not original?

I went a few years ago when the shed tours where happening, I think the presence of asbestos prevents any more work on the engibne
