Saw this Engine on the A1 near Stevenage heading South at 15:15 for those that are interested on the back of a lorry. Not sure where it was off to

Now why didn't they stick 6024 on there with it!

OK, I know it's answered on the MHR website, but it's such a pity. I'll be going anyway.

Presumably the Earl of Berkeley is similarly heading there round the M25 .....

Yes she is heading for the MHR. Looked at the MHR site earlier on the roster page and 3717 is also booked for use on the line on the 3rd April for Mother's day.

3717 also worked the service train on Saturday. 73096 and 3717 both worked the two Mother's day lunch specials and 31806 worked the service train.

Nice, but a shame you attached such huge files. Even over a 6Mbps broadband line, they took several minutes each to load - I only tried 2.

How much longer does she have on her ticket?

Thank goodness I had the imagination to join her on that December Plymouth to Bristol a few years back, that will never happen again!

The company that day was a testament to the rarity value - even if there were a few strained relations!!!

I remember traveling behind City of Truro around April 2004 on the private gala for the donators at the GWR. Lovely warm day from what I remember!

Does anyone know what the prospects are for 3717 once her ticket is up ?, gut feeling is this may be the last time she steams given her age and no big GWR aniversarys for a long while now.

I would think a spell on display. One thing working against her is that her limited loading and speed will probably prevent a return to the mainline on a regular basis in the future.

The next big Anniversary would be the 125th of the 100MPH Run in 1904 which would be 2029, so i could see about a 10-12 year period if she makes it to the end of her ticket in 2014 visiting heritage lines where she is back to being a static exhibit at York/Shildon/on Loan.

Such a gap would allow the NRM to steam other locomotives, and put Truro in a position to be an attractive proposition for donors to fund an overhaul in the mid 2020's for a new generation who would never have seen her steam or has fond memories of this period in service (i.e. someone like me who has very fond memories of her running in the past 8 years).
