A Danish-German consortium has bee awarded a €562 million civils contract to construct a series of structures along Denmark’s Copenhagen-Ringsted line.

Eriksson and Züblin will deliver 18 kilometres of earthworks, construct 20 new bridges and 19 wildlife crossings along the section between Ishøj and Køge.

The Copenhagen-Ringsted route is one section of a planned EU transport corridor that stretches all the way from Stockholm to southern Italy. From Ringsted the line travels further south the the Fehmarnbelt where a 19-kilometre long immersed tunnel is being constructed to create a quicker connection between Denmark and Germany.

Between now and the opening of the fixed link in 2021, engineers are also completing a major renewal and modernisation of the 115 kilometre line between Ringsted and the Fehmarnbelt.

Eriksson – Züblin will begin work next year and plan to be finish in 2016.
