What happened to it, my mate saw the VSOE set been topped and tailed by a couple of 67's at shalford.
    Did it fail?

Did he actually see it at Shalford or just see it on another forum. There was a Northern Belle VSOE out of Victoria on the same day with t&t 67s, but it didn't go to Shalford.

No it ran well. I spoke to my friend from the support crew afterwards and he said all went well. The VSOE did a second run round the Surrey Hills route yesterday evening. There was an announcement on Guildford station soon after Tornado left I'm told saying it was steam hauled but they got the wrong information, meaning my mum and little brother waited for an hour for nothing!

There was a Valentine Special that had trouble going up the ECML yesterday where 7-8 of the coaches were Pullmans. They broke down just short of Grantham. I was on the intercity behind it and we got delayed for a few minutes while they cleared the line and pulled into Grantham. Our driver gave us the details as we drove past. It was a couple of 47's though :smt022 Don't know what happened to it after that. Possible connection ?

The evening trip was 67 T&T at Shalford which I saw 15 minutes after Tornado. The daytime trip was 35028. The guys at Guildford got carried away and wrongly announced the evening VSOE as steam hauled.

I think the general public don't realise VSOE do Diesel and Steam hauled trips out of Victoria.A bit of 'forward planning' is required to get the timings right,or what you would like to travel by when booking.

Not that it makes too much difference, still excellent service whatever is 'up front'.

Lunch is served,Oh,wrong timing, dinner is served...

The ECS of the VSOE with 67's top n tailing was sitting outside Victoria as we departed on Tornado's evening run. All of the VSOE staff were leaning out of the windows watching 60163 make a spirited departure!

You may find that these Class 60's were Topped and Tailed to get the stock to 35028?

The VSOE is air braked only, so none of the MH steam locos can pull it except for Bitten

A class 31 was turned out once, but it only got to Byfleet Jn before expiring. (Unfortunately not terminally!) A class 33 was borrowed from an engineers train at Woking to haul the VSOE forward.
