If anyone is interested 35028 is doing another test run this evening Stewarts Lane via the Surrey Hills etc.

I have been informed this will kick off around 17.30 from Battersea bearing in mind the loco needs to be turned first.

Should be in the Guildford area about 21.00. No exact details given. If anyone has these could they please advise?

    Thanks.

Great news, fingers crossed they "have found" the problem rather than just hoping they have cured it. The main line steam scene is a poorer place without this majestic beast.

I saw had a chat with Colin K. at Rainham yesterday evening who will be on board.

Since then I have had an update expected at Clapham J. 19.35.

    Clan Line test run

The Uksteam site shows a loco and stock movement for Clan Line tomorrow, round the Surrey circular route. Does anyone have timings for this, please?

It would appear that the test run is this evening, times are up on UKsteam loco movements.

Just been informed further that this evening's run has been called off. Unfortunately there are still injector

problems with 35028 and that it failed it's fitness to run exam.

I'm sure everyone will join me in hoping this ongoing problem will be rectified soon.

Hope they get to the bottom of this very soon, it must be incredibly frustrating for them. I'll be very interested to hear exactly what the problem is.

    Re: Clan Line test run

I did hear that 35028 has still got her original injectors from BR days. I know that these injectors have been overhauled with new cones. But could the injector body become life expired with to much ware and tear?

Dont know if 100% true, but heard there was the possibility of considering swapping injectors with Port Line's due to ongoing issues a while back when first started??

Wish the MNLPS all the best rectifying the problems, to return 35028 back to the main line where she belongs.

Sounds like a sensible solution for short term. While I'd rather my favourite engine wasn't cannibalised I'm happy that 35027 is helping out 34046 and 35028 :biggrin1:.

Apparently this was tried out but was unsuccessful according to my contact.

A real shame that the problems keep persisting. I was going to see her on Friday but then heard the run was cancelled. If the injectors from 35027 didn't work either how about trying those from 35005. She certainly won't be needing them for a while and I am sure the MHR would be happy to help.

How very frustrating for all the members of the MNLPS.

It seems odd for different injectors to both fail, so I wonder if the problem is with pipework or clacks etc??.
From my own experience injectors can be tempremental things and it doesnt take alot to upset them.

I wish them well in getting to the root cause of the boiler feed problems and getting "Clan Line" back in action soon.

I don't want to speculate about 35028 as I am sure my MNLPS colleagues, (those who get their hands dirty for the rest of us), are doing everything they can.

So I will raise a general injector point and would be very grateful if any replies could be in general terms. Bear in mind I have once described my engineering knowledge and expertise as "I can take apart any mechanical object consisting of two or more parts, but will always have one bit left over I have re assembled it". And subsequently I feel that is rather generous description of my knowledge and/or expertise.

But when an injector stops injecting, could that be because of a blockage inside the boiler at /near the point where the water is injected into the boiler? Be difficult to find that?
