Clay Wagon Project

The Clay Wagon Project aims to restore a total of 9 Clay Wagons which are based at Bodmin & Wenford Railway, once all Clay Wagons are fully restored they will then be part of an Authentic Rake of Clay Hood Wagons which will be the only set running on a Heritage Railway.

Bodmin Railway is the home of the China Clay line and an ideal place for this Project to evolve as the Clay Wagons would have ran along the lines to Wenford Dries which ended in September 1983, if it wasn’t for the China Clay traffic then the lines would have been removed and not in existence today.

Each wagon will be completely restored taking it back to bare metal and bringing them back to life including the famous Blue Hood which were a familiar site in Cornwall but were replaced in 1988 by CDA Wagons which currently run Clay traffic today to Fowey Docks.
