Full details will be on the Compass site probably in the middle of next month. I believe the office staff are having a well earned break, so there's no point in publishing tours when there is no one to answer the phones.

Wonder what the haulage will be. Steam out of Southport will be unmissable personally.

Since it is unlikely that there will be any locos based at Crewe that early in the season, most probably one from Carnforth, and a 47 on the back.

A quick hello and seasons greetings from the snow covered Lapland town of Levi, Finland.

We are indeed off on holiday for a few weeks and I note that Steam Info has added our 2012 dates featuring scheduled steam. They will be spread over April, May, July and August with no planned specific locomotive to be pre-advertised in literature on any date, my preference to help me sleep at night and probably to the operators who can switch about without the risk of being heckled over the issue by anyone (although allocation info may often appear late on over the internet).

Whilst we operate mainly for a non enthusiast market (which fills trains contrary to some speculative reports) our policy on operational caveats (e.g risk of operating authorities use diesel rescue/assistance/insurance etc) as stated last week will be clearly displayed in advance on our website + booking forms. Like many old "purist" diesel fans I've known or been friends with for many years I suggest if our circumstances do pose an issue either take your chances but know the risk or take adavantage of the possibility of a pay on the day fare. Everybody (well-behaved!) is always made welcome, treated as well as the "next man", and fitted in where possible + our team will do their best to squeeze in latecomers or single traveller enthusiasts who come at short notice (*for single travellers we often do get an odd no-show or day-before pullout especially with a lot of clientelle being elderly). It doesn't change my opinions or what I stated recently but I can assure you that we don't maltreat the responsible "late booker" if hes awaiting info on the loco or wants to weigh up the risk of something dangling on the back (or not)
