An expansion of Copenhagen Airport (CPH) could include building a new high-speed rail station, according to chief executive Thomas Woldbye.

Presenting a 25-year masterplan for the airport’s future, Woldbye said a new high-speed railway station could be built to bring travellers from Oslo and Hamburg to the airport.

Woldbye said the new station would play a major part in meeting the airport’s ambitions of doubling its annual passenger numbers. The plans include a series of projects designed to bring 40 million passengers to the airport each year.

Rather than constructing a new terminal, CPH is looking to increase the capacity of its existing infrastructure.

Currently rail links to and from the airport subsist of a regular metro service from Terminal 3 to Copenhagen’s Nørreport Station and regional Oresundtrain services to Copenhagen Central Station.
