    I am after some advice....

Does anyone any experience of how to copy a logo/piece of artwork that has been painted on wood and then getting it recreated as a transfer so it can be re-applied on a new piece of wood.

We would like to remove the original section of wood to protect and save it and put a new piece in with a copy of the artwork/logo that was there.

    Many thanks
    James

A lot will depend on the size & complexity of the original.

Ideally, scan it at high resolution (min. 600dpi) or get good clear hi-res photos on Macro setting.
Then, depending on the complexity (& the colours involved) it **might** be as simple as tweaking the image in Photoshop & then printing it onto waterslide paper. However it **could** require complete ground-up re-creation in either Photoshop or a vector package like Illustrator & then screen-printing, which is likely to be quite costly.

There's also a sporting chance that it could be traced & re-created by traditional signwriting methods, albeit with some compromises.

Need more info really, any chance of a snapshot?

Here is a photo of the artwork. It will need some gentle cleaning up as well....

Its condition precludes the 'direct' approach, & the level of awkward fine-line detail would make hand-painting it a quite serious challenge; I suspect that a vector art re-creation would produce the best results.

It seems to be two colours - black & white - which simplifies things. What are the approximate dimensions?
