Corel Video Studio X2

This application has a problem in that there is an identified bug which prevents the processing of a .flv file, which file is required for uploading videos to YouTube. Corel claim to have a fix for this bug which is downloadable from their website, but in my experience this patch doesn't work.

Is this experience shared by other Video Studio users and does anybody know of a workaround?

Whilst I do not have this product and can not comment on it, be assured that you do NOT need to upload .flv to Youtube, their preferred upload format is .mp4 follwed by .mpg, Youtube will then convert to .flv

 

use it with Mp4 myself, works fine, CoRal over alll has more formats and options in the standard package, while almost everthing is extra on others. Power director is good as well, but does not support high res mp4 and is buggy, every time I try to use it recently it crashers., while coral does the job fine.

Would anybody mind if I really pushed my luck and asked a further question about Corel Video Studio X2?

I cannot find a way of applying a 'fade up' (or any transition at all) to the beginning or a 'fade down' at the end of a video in this package. Nor can I do this to the start and end of a caption/title. The effect of this is that a video (and titles) begin and end abruptly instead of appearing/disappearing gradually. Can anyone advise? Perhaps I should say that the SVR video mentioned earlier in this post was processed using Pinnacle 12+ where this functionality is available.

Along the tabs at the top of the main window you have "Capture", "Edit" and "Effect". Click on the "Effect" tab and you get loads of fade/checker effects which you can then put at the beginning and end of the video timeline. Obviously you can also put them inbetween clips or scenes as well.

Thanks for this but it doesn't work! It's interesting that it works for you. I can put the transition effects in between clips just fine, but not at the beginning or end of the project nor at the beginning or end of titles/captions. I just get a feature where the arrow cursor changes to a 'no entry' sign ie a circle with a bar at 45deg!

I don't understand, not that this is the first time I've been confused by software having worked in the industry since the mid-60s!

I have just reviewed my video of the SVR on YouTube and I must say that the image quality is better by uploading a .mpg file and allowing YouTube to do the processing rather than processing to a .flv file on my computer and then uploading it. It just takes longer to upload that's all.

I shall do this in future, thanks for all the advice.
