There are so many photos in that report that if you scroll through them quickly it almost looks like a piece of film!!!
The box is looking good though.

    Cheers,

Why does Corfe Castle have to be the signal box to be connected up to network rail?
Why not build a new one at Norden and connect that to Network rail?

While I was not privy to the decision making process, as I understand it the fact that there was a signal box in that rough position until 1954-56(ish), and the restricted size of the current Corfe box precluding the installation of significantly more equipment in there made some people look upon a replacement Corfe box as a sensible option.

Bear in mind that a signal box at Norden would still be a mile from the physical boundary at Motala, and only half a mile closer to Worgret Junction than Corfe is.

So they weren't just there to watch the trains go by! Its strange when you see it week in week out you don't notice the progress but the pictures demonstrate well the amount of hard work done by a few people. It does look good.

It looks splendid. Corfe Castle is getting nearer and nearer to perfection as an iconic Southern branch line station. In fact, you'd have to be pretty hard to please if you found any fault with this place.
