Sixty years ago on Coronation Day Tuesday 2nd June 1953 the Talyllyn Railway became the only preserved railway to operate two specially decorated trains as part of the celebrations. Now on Sunday 2nd June 2013 the Railway will be re-enacting the events of that day with the original locomotive and rolling stock. In addition the Railway is also looking for some of those who rode the train on that occasion to take part in the day itself, and to participate in a proposed BBC documentary.

Prince Charles and the Dutchess of Cornwall travelled on the train on 13th July 2005 prior to opening the new Wharf Station building.

This was the second time Prince Charles has visited the line, he travelled on the footplate of No.2 in 1982. Princess Diana travelled in the Corris Coach behind.
