The future of Leicestershire's Ivanhoe train line is safe after Central trains applied to the government to run it as a commercial venture.
The line links villages such as Barrow, Sileby, and Syston with bigger towns and cities.

It was established with the help of local council funding.

But Rachel Webster, a spokeswoman for Central Trains said it now has enough passengers to run regardless of external funding.
