Rumour has it that on the return journey, 6233 will now not come off at Carnforth, but bring the train back to Crewe. 75mph through Warrington, :-k I feel a spectacular video opportunity there, must remember to report to the station staff though...

I'd have to drag her screaming to see any steam loco, unless she was booked posh class with 3 hours at some expensive shops at the half way point... ;-)

I hoping to be out for the outward run on the S&C and then at Warrington for the return. Probably see you at Warrington Ralph, I shall report to station staff as required, ;-) Wonder if Mr Jones will be there as well :-k

    Neil.

Might not be able to make Warrington Neil, may have to make do with Acton Bridge. Hopefully I'll have a passing report from Leyland, if I do I'll give you a quick call and then would appreciate a return when she has passed you.

6233 never fails to look impressive.

It was rumoured that there was a change of plan and she went direct to Hellifield via Blackburn. This would account for not appearing at Preston. Can anybody confirm this?

Well I am not off to the S&C now, Had a puncture just before I got on the M61 and the spare is one of those skinny things restricted to 50mph ](*,) The proper tyre is being fixed as I type. I will have to make do with Warrington tonight.

    Neil.

Bad luck Neil, I decided against going but Mrs.ACW and myself will be at Bank Quay tonight, may see you there. It should be good if the last time she came through is anything to go by.

Say her through Craghill Farm bridge, very windy so I don't think the sound will be up to much, but looked well. Won't bother posting until I have tonights clip as well.
Note the farmer is not happy about photographers and came to send me on my way, fortunately I was just packing up...

Saw her this morning at Hellifield then just past Settle junction going well after being held for 2 mins or so close to Settle signal box. Picture below is taken just after she passed the A65 road bridge.

She looked great as she stormed through Warrington, I will try and post a vid up later if I can find the *little black box" ( WinTv thingy) that allows me post to Youtube. ](*,)

Well done to all involved with 6233, what a loco! Never fails to knock me socks off!

    Thanks, Neil.

Seeing the Duchess: A True Story by Richard_3672
Well.. Got to Preston in ample time (10 minutes early). Went for a mooch and then landed towards the bottom of Platform 4. I looked, but ignored, the fact that a TPExpress unit from Barrow was to terminate at 1836, of which I thought 6233 would be through before it came.

So watching pigeons fly about and moaning about the fact a woman stood right in front of my line of camera fire, when she had an empty platform to choose from!, I waited for the loco to come through.

Heard some commotion and then realised Platform 3 was where the Duchess ran through, too little too late as it burst through sounding ace! Saw it at the bottom and tried for a zoomed shot, but instead got a blurred over-exposed photo (due to bad light).

So I upped and left thinking, 'Oh well, I saw it anyways!' and left. There was a guy with a blue camcorder bag who seemed REALLY pissed off he didn't get to see it because he slammed his bag down in a huff, which I found a bit funny.

    The End
