Tangmere is now scheduled for this, not Scots Guardsman and the daft London departure slot (06.26) is down to NR and Mon-Fri pathing, it would seem. Poor old RTC is having a tricky time at present in trying to get a sensible path for its charters.

Network Rail could manage the network so much better if everyone stopped annoying them by running trains over it!

Is the Scot still having issues?
Guardsman was having lots of issues from August through the end of last year.

Despite my Southern roots, I've cancelled on this one simply because there's no train service that'll get me near Euston for 06.26. Well at least we now know that there is no sensible Mon-Fri path out of London up the WCML to pick up anything steamy over the Cumbrian hills.

Regarding the timings, I am afraid that is what you will get when trying to run out of Euston on a weekday - good job they are using 86259 as getting a path with a diesel would be even harder (UK railtours use 2 x 67 on their mid-week trips to North Wales, one on its own won't keep the times). I am lucky in that Milton Keynes is easy to get to though will probably drive as I don't trust the train service :tape2:

Also another one here not happy with Tangmere, though I have had some good runs off it in the past it just doesn't "float my boat" like something from the LMS / BR standards. I was really looking forward to 46115 having never had a spin behind it before, at the current rate it will be out of ticket before I get another chance :frown:

It is a shame that 5690 or 5699 aren't lined up to substitute for the Scot. with 44932 now having problem 5305 can go down the steep side of shap if it was , It really doesn't look like Carnforth had another viable choice.

Please would you be so kind as to explain the line above "to the 8f and 5305?"

Is it possible Tangmere is having a bit of a test closer to Carnforth before heading down south again? Is there a problem with 44932?

Same issue with me. I'm just putting it down to bad luck but this would actually have been my third unsuccessful attempt to get Scots Guardsman on something. It does seem like you take pot luck with anything out of Carnforth.

You could always join this next weeks Roses Express at Preston for 46115 doing Copy Pit both ways.

Yes Ralph but if you don't live in the centre of the universe then you have to wait for something that originates from the south. "Ay, there's the rub".:violin: And isn't this a '5" anyway?

Well I for one am the total opposite. It's fantastic to see Tangmere have the opportunity to do this run & escape from the South, in fact since Britannia has replaced Braunton on Thursdays Cathedrals Express (which I wasn't happy about), I'm cancelling my seat on that trip to get up to see Tangmere on it's rare trip. I find the Scots Guardsman a very boring & over rated loco.

I'd guess it's got something to do with the Great Britain V, making sure it's ready for that & not wanting to risk anything beforehand, 44932 I'd guess is probably still down South covering for Tangmere, and Tangmere is up here so why not take the opportunity to use it, after all there will be plenty of people who'll be happy about the change. The bad news though is my educated guess from experience is that it'll have a box on the back - Tangmere has had a box on the back more often than not over the past couple of years.
