Does anyone know where D213 has gone. It wasn't at Barrow Hill this weekend and wondered what had happened to the loco.

    Regards

No, aparently not in Needles shed.
We were told by some volunteers that when they arrived one morning, it had just been loaded onto the back of a low loader and was quietly driven away.

We saw it at the rear of Barrow Hill in December just prior to Christmas, after it had been moved from the turntable to the carpark area (we passed on the Nottingham-Leeds train).

Hope it ends up in decent hands. :)

Given the recent merger with the Science Museum, wouldn't this mean that the National Collection now has two Class 40s? Or are MOSI locos in some way not counted as part of the main collection?

Nearly 12 months since anyone posted anything on D213. Any updates as to what is happening to this engine ?

Yes I am an active volunteer
D213 seen in this picture taken last week at Barrow Hill, 1/2/13.

If you look carefully you can see lifting brackets attached to the loco. I'm told (albeit though a Facebook group!) that the loco has since been lifted (this week) and the wheelsets sent to South Devon for attention.

I only watch from afar, but it looks like activity is healthy on this loco, done quietly and without much online fanfare.
