Thanks to everyone for their continued support as we fast approach decision time form HLF, towards our application for just over £2.8Million to return the Daniel Adamson back to operational condition.
Our Match funding campaign has passed the half way mark – around £51,000 raised or pledged of the required £100,000 and this is tremendous news. Some very generous grants recently form corporate and private donors.

The Daniel Adamson is a unique survivor here in the UK and is classed as such an important National Treasure, she is classed in the highest ranking of historic ships alongside the likes of Mary Rose, Cutty Sark and SS Great Britain. Once restored back to her full steam powered, Art-deco, passenger carrying best, nothing like her in the UK will exist.

As a lot of you will be aware, as part of our fundraising we arranged a River Mersey & Docks cruise In July on a Mersey Ferry. Sadly the cruise was cancelled with only a hours’ notice due to mechanical failure on the ferry which was beyond our control. However, people who were there on the day were allowed aboard the normal “River Explorer” for a couple of circuits at no cost so as not to have wasted a day. Many supporters travelled from far and wide that day.

This is just a reminder that the cruise has been re-booked for Sat 1st October departing at the following times:
    • Seacombe:- 12:00
    • Woodside:- 12:15
    • Pier Head/ Cruise Line Terminal:- 12:30

As per previous notices, those of you with Tickets from the August cruise PLEASE keep them and they are valid for the 1st October cruise.

The cruise will have the same schedule, entering the docks and heading South to Sandon Dock where the Daniel Adamson can be viewed from the water. Commentary will again be provided by BBC Radio Merseyside’s Andy Ball and retired Mersey River Pilot and DAPS Vice-Chairman, Stuart Wood.

Some of you however were unable to attend the new date and have returned the tickets to the point of sale for a refund.

There remains about 90-100 tickets left for this cruise in two weeks’ time and these remaining tickets are available from any of the three Mersey Ferry ticket offices at their terminal buildings. Seeing as the previous cruise was a resounding sell out, we would very much like to sell all remaining tickets and help raise much needed funds for the “Danny”. I hope to see you all on the 1st October?

As a quick update also, you may also be aware that our HLF application is being considered in London by the HLF board of Trustees on 27th September, not long now. This follows many months if not years of work in progressing the application to the best of our ability and having sought advice, we sincerely hope that the application is looked upon favourably. However, I’m afraid I won’t be able to reveal publicly the results of the HLF meeting on the 27th, good or bad as a Media Embargo has been imposed until the 5th October and I am allowed to only tell supporters/ volunteers on a “need to know” basis which is frustrating but HLF are considering a number of projects that day and they tend to want to put a general Media Release out that covers all successful (or not) projects awarded that day. So no public statements or statements on forums/ social media etc. is allowed until the 5th. On the cruise however on the 1st, consisting of a large group of “supporters”, it could be difficult to hide the news!

    Dan Cross. Chairman.
