I think you are confusing Peter Best with the late Peter Beet who founded Steamtown Carnforth at the end of the steam era in 1968.

Noticed there has been no “official announcement” that 6046 is on the line. Do we know for how long?

This post gave a hint. However with many commerative events in June, with reference to WW2, it seems quite appropriate.

They have a lovely 37 they could use, surprised it wasn't brought out saturday to give a round trip off the Retro Railtour.

posts on social media suggested that within the PDR timetable and the tour timings a round trip was not feasible . I can't comment on whether that is the case

6046 was running yesterday and today: I have heard her chime whistle due to favourable wind direction. :)

Me too, I only spotted your post on the return trip. I see she's been put in the shed now, keep her out of the rain eh ;).
Must just say that was a great day out today, I did the return trip and got the Kingswear Castle paddle steamer cruise just as the rain had abated :), I did not realise she was still coal fired. All staff, both railway and boat, were friendly and well informed, a smartly run operation and good value for money, well done them.

All staff are friendly there I’ve been going down there for years.
We only did Kingswear & back Standard 4 there & S160 then drove 180 miles home but we’d been in Paignton since Friday.
Glad you enjoyed it down there

Thought I read in one of the railway magazines that 6046 was due to go to Wensleydale (for there summer season) presumably that is no longer happening?
