    Right Folks,

Firstly, apologies for the late post with information, but as im sure many of you are aware its been a tough start to the year for us. Our Heritage festival this year take splace from Friday 8th June 2012 through to Sunday 10th June 2012.

Locomotives in use will be 4936 Kinlet Hall, 7827 Lydham Manor, 4277 and D7535. One of the shunters will also be doing break van rides up at Churston. It will be an intensive timetable similar to last year, with passenger, freight and double headed workings. The timetable is still being finalised, but should be made public in the next couple of weeks.

Churston will again be the main hub with various traction engines, vintage tractors, vintage cars and bike displays along with all sorts of interesting exibits for all the family. We have managed to utilise the local Football clubs field opposite Churston station so we have allot more room this year. The model show is back again in the railway Paintshed and the workshops will also be open where the completed chassis of Braveheart can be seen along with 5239 Goliath. Lots more will be confirmed in teh next couple of weeks so watch this space!

We are also running a bus service from Torquay to our Paignton Station and also a Dartmouth harbour cruise called the humphrey gilbert.

Many more exibits will be confirmed shortly so keep an eye out for updates!

Good to see this beautiful line is becoming more enthusiast friendly. Kinlet Hall will be a good draw.

Is there an arrival date for 4936, and is it coming by road or rail ?

The working timetable should be finalised next week and will be made available as soon as possible.

With regards to Kinlet Hall, it will be here for the summer season and should be arriving around the end of May by road.

Interesting that it is still cheaper (preferable?) to transport a loco by road - given it is a mainline-registered loco and to a mainline-connected railway. Is it all down to cost?
Also, pretty please can you do double heading with the Hall and Manor?!! :pray2:

OK, thanks. Hadn't thought of the gauge/speed restrictions. £6k - not cheap. How does this compare with road haulage?

She is arriving by road due to clearence issues on the Paignton branch and cost.

The Heritage festival will include double heading so dont worry! More deatils can be found here Railway Events

Talking of double heading, 7827 will be double heading the 12:15 & 14:15 trains on Tuesday with 4277 before being officially brought back into service on Wednesday 23rd May.

Thanks for the update Rory. Helpful, as ever!
Interesting re the clearance issues on the Paignton line - I wonder if that puts into question the idea of her piloting RTC's Summer Sunday trips over Dainton and Rattery which was mooted in Steam Railway mag?

Without knowing for definate, I would think the clearance issues may relate to the down platform at Torquay at the Paignton end. 5239 took a bit of white paint with it when it passed through a few years back on a stock transfer from the DVR to the then T&DR. It could be to get the loco Hall to Newton Abbot from Paignton or the other way, it may be possible to run wrong road. 6024 used to have to do this in the early/mid 1990's, it then running engine and coach to Newton abbot from Paignton using the down line. It's rebuild and lowering allowed for it to be cleared on the up line at a later date.

I must admit, I am really looking forward to this event. Haven't seen 4936 for years, the last time was on the PDSR (as it was then) back in March 2002 when she worked with 4965 I think. The timetable I see has been posted on line. 4936 and 7827 will be DHing the 13:00 ex-Paignton service on Friday, Sunday and Monday, with 4936 working with 4277 and D7535 (Sunday only for D7535) on a couple of trips from Kingswear. D7535 will only be working on Sunday.

I look forward to attending on the Friday (afternoon) and Saturday (all day, hopefully!), I might even pop in on Sunday morning before 34067 and the Atlantic Coast Express...

Looks to be a superb gala - can't wait to see Nos:7827 and 4936 blasting away! Just wondering if there's any word on what direction the locomotives are facing, or is that subject to change? The website doesn't mention which way the locos are facing as far as I can tell.
    Thanks.
