Dean Forest Diesel Gala - 9th/10th September 2023

Good Evening All,

With our first guest announced we're pleased to start the promotion of our 2023 Diesel Gala. After the success of our 2022 event (which starred 37901 courtesy of Rail Operations Group and 31130 courtesy of the Suburban Preservation group), we are pleased to put the tickets on sale for the 2023 event which will be held on the 9th and 10th September.

Two visitors are booked so far: the first is announced, Class 37 37227 for the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway, the other of which is a little gem making it’s heritage railway passenger debut! These are penned to operate an intensive timetable alongside our home fleet locos Class 08 D3937 and Class 14 D9521, for full two days of diesel action in the Forest of Dean. We’ll also have the usual extra attractions of BEER and trade stands, with more planned and yet to be announced. Our timetable team are already hard at work, ensuring that as many trains as possible meet mainline connections at Lydney Junction whilst adding interesting moves like double headers and giving each loco suitable mileage to stretch their legs over the course of the two days.

If you visited us last year, you’ll know our 4 ½ mile line has suitable twists, turns and gradients to give most locomotives a nice challenge and once you get amongst the trees the noise will begin to echo around…we can feel it already! Don’t miss out and ensure this “top notch” event is in your diary.
