Dean Forest Railway '200 Years Gala Weekend' - 13-14th June

    The Dean Forest Railway are holding a Gala over the weekend, 13th-14th June, to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of a Bill being signed to allow a railway to be laid and ran in the Forest of Dean.

    Locomotives in service will be GWR 'Small Prairie Tank' number 5521, BR(W) 'Pannier Tank' number 9681 & BR Class 14 Diesel number D9521. Auto, Passenger & Goods trains to run (including ballast) and double heading. The DFR website says an intense timetable will be in operation too.

    If you have never been to the DFR, not on a gala or not recently, this could be a worthwhile weekend to visit on.

    The goods train will be made up of ballast wagons, which kept the line open in the later years.

    So if you have a chance, pop down to this lovely line and take a ride.

    9681 will be running as well.
