Dellner has been awarded a £1.4 million contract by Alstom to overhaul 109 automatic couplers for the manufacturer’s UK Pendolino fleet.

The contract, which will run for 12 months from January 2015, comes off the back of a £10 million order from Hitachi to supply the gangways for the Intercity Express Programme’s (IEP) Class 800 fleet.

Last week, Virgin Trains was awarded an extension to operate on the West Coast main line until 2017.

Since the announcement, Bombardier has been given a new contract to maintain Virgin Trains’ fleet of 20 Super Voyager trains until 2019.

Sales and marketing manager David Brookes said: “As part of the framework contract we have also managed to get an agreement with Alstom, that Dellner will be given the first opportunity to have a look at some other areas of interest, which could be even bigger in the future.”
