Last saw 22 up the valley from Dewsbury to Morley Tunnel............it could be heard from a long way off, and the pointing between the stonework at Batley station suffered, 2 engines, pedal (handle) to the stop, what's not to like. Happy days.

The return route means a blast through Dewsbury or Thornhill (York to Huddersfield).

If you want an interesting job on a Deltic , try removing all 36 fuel injectors from both engines. You need a 3/8" drive 2' long socket extension. Nearly forgot, it has just come on shed from Edinburgh and is blazing hot.

 

Read about some of the servicing jobs in a Deltic book in the day, a top performer when on song, but a maintenance menace was the adage.

Would not have it any other way!!!!

 

By way of an update from LSL, disappointing news, but great to see the investment in one of the engines.

 

That's actually very good news. It's been missing a good while now and its refreshing to see that LSL are continuing the good work by its previous owners. The further six figure sums to repair its power units properly can only be seen as a positive development.
