Didcot 175 Events

Hi, Can anyone tell me if there are any planned night shoots in line with this wonderful event?

As I understand it from memory from the last GW Echo, there are plans for night shoots but I don't think any details have been finalised yet. Its possible someone on here might have more of an inside track but I think the public position is still "To be announced"

 

In the latest Steam Railway magazine it says that there will be a public evening photographic shoot but it is still in the process of being planned.

 

Sign on the entrance today had an evening shoot on Thursday 6th and an early morning on on Saturday 8th plus another evening one on Sat 23rd Oct.

A sign at the entrance does it for me. Hopefully they will be well organised and structured photo shoots.

I can confirm what 6024KEI says - I was there on the same day. There's also to be an early morning photoshoot too

 

Looking to be a good event with 13 engines in steam. I'm guessing that will be;

3717 / 9466 / 7827 / 1450 / 5029 / 5521 + 4965/5043 the first weekend
5322 / 3650 / 3738 / 3822 / Iron Duke

Definately coming the first weekend some point. First visit to Didcot in many a year and thoroughly looking forward to it.

The bad news is that 3822 will probaby not be available for sevice.

Night shoots at Didcot; excellent news. No longer in the 'too difficult' tray then...

 

On the first Saturday we should have 1338, 1340, 1450, 3650, 3717, 3738, 5029, 5322, 5521, 7827, 9466 and Fire Fly, with 4965 & 5043 there for part of the day. So 14 western engines in steam, plus BPC No.1 which will probably get chucked in as well. Altogether we will have 30 odd western engines on site. According to Steam Sun, Iron Duke will be arriving in June, I don't know exactly what the state of play is with this, but I do know that the engine isn't a runner at the moment.

During the week there will be various themed days, and some of the stuff lined up sounds pretty good. I would expect full details will be announced over the next few weeks. We're hoping to get as many toys out of the box as possible, even to the extent of having a look at getting the 6-wheel family saloon (2511 of 1891) operational.

I know no-one has asked yet, but before they do, no, 6023 will not be running. I think the aim at the moment with this one is possibly the August bank holiday.

 

How come 6024 is now not attending? I saw it on the website a few months ago but now it has been removed.

 

It's still down to attend on the 6024 website, but it has got the Royal Duchy to do on 1st May.

 

it might not be going to didcot because it might be going to nymr, hopefully.

 

Seems a bit odd if 6024 is going oop north while GWR 175 is on at Didcot?

 

6024 passed its annual steam test at Minehead on Friday.
But its not heading oop north - not this year anyway.
As to GWR 175 events at Didcot and elsewhere, well there's more to come I believe....

I've got a feeling in my water that I'm going to have to make more visits to Didcot this year than I've made in the last 10 years added together.
We two Kings of Didcot are.......... perhaps?

I'd quite like to see 5029, 5043 and 5051 alongside each other on the first saturday. It's a real shame 4079 isn't ready yet though, 4 Castles in front of the shed at Didcot would look great!!!
