My wife is looking to treat me to an dining experience on one of the heritage railways. What is the best/best value dining experience that people have experienced. To clarify I mean a proper 3+ course meal, not curry or fish and chip type experiences. Ideally I'm looking for the railways in the South and Central part of England, so say south of the Great Central. Many thanks.

Both the Bluebell and Kent & East Sussex Railways' pullman trains are excellent. The carriages are also superbly restored. The only downside is that you need to book well in advance (Especially the K&ESR) as they are very popular.

The KESR has a variety of offerings, Sunday Lunch, or Saturday Dinner. As well as various special teas etc.
