Some interesting stuff there Ashley, thanks for posting, prob mentioned it before but the tunnels on the Buxton line are opened up on certain days of the year for a guided walk, well worth doing.

Thank you. I didn't know that actually, I had heard of the plan to open them all up for walkers next year though. Hopefully I will get to complete my walk of the line sometime and be able to walk the tunnels at the same time.

Thanks for the link, I will have to do that one day next year. Just had a look through your pictures for that stretch of the line, really facinating to see the old ones of what it was like before. I did a quick google search of Millers Dale before I went (as I used it for my starting point and a place to park) and hardly found any pictures. Thanks for sharing!

There are a few books published about the line and this is an interesting site.

I always thought the Midland line through the Peak was preservations biggest near miss, today it would compete for being the premier preserved line, when you think the Midland Railway centre is only a few miles away, yet Rowsley was the l heart of the Midland Railway second only to Derby!

Thank you for that one. Yes for sure, it would be an amazing heritage railway if it could of been saved.
