Drones.

For general discussion. I have posted several drone videos of steam tours, with generally favourable reception, which surprised me, I expected a negative reaction.

Kit used. DJI Mini 2 Se, with the fly more kit. Sound is supplemented with a separate digital recorder, the Zoom H1n, and post dubbed.

I obtained the CAA operator ID, did the online test to obtain a CAA flyer ID, and now in the learning to fly and video phase, experimenting with best angles and flight profiles. I am over the nervous "will it crash, "will I crash it," "will I lose it" phase.

Why a drone? My expensive Sony 4k semi pro camera failed, irreparably, just outside the guarantee period so unprepared to lash out another £1.5 -2k, I fancied a change so blundered into the drone scene.

Why the DJI Mini 2 se? Its cheap, its under 250grammes (for much more unrestricted flying) very easy to fly, very stable, quiet, and very capable. Minus points, only 2k camera at 30fps, (so video at 1080p 60fps) no obstacle avoidance.

Advantages of drone? New and different locations that a low ground based POV can't use. Disadvantages? far less areas to use a drone that you would think. Power lines in the way, trees in your chosen area, A 5g cell mast disrupting your signal, gulls and crows hate it and try to take it down, plus of course flight restriction areas. Wind has not been an issue, it remains stable and controllable in strong gusts.

All in all its added a challenging and fun aspect to videoing with new scenes and locations to find.
