I'm surprised nobody has started a thread on the duchess 1st main line out since her 12 month overhaul..this trip sounds good. I'm hoping to get some good shots around the York area.

Duchess to Scarborough? Seems like a capital idea.

Instead of the usual Colton Junction shots we're having a train ride to York and watching/photting it in the station, chance for a good look at the loco for a change as it's booked to stop in both directions. Anyone know what platform will be used? As most will be aware there is also the 60019/70013 hand over inthe afternoon. Off to the NRM to fill the day in, I haven't seen 13000 in maroon yet.

Since she is going on to Scarborough it will most likely be platform 3, that's the one that the Scarborough Flyers use. I'm not sure but isn't it only 3 and 4 that have access to the Scarborough line?

Seems like another of those 'steam days' in York then. Great stuff, but looking forward to seeing the Duchess down south again in due course !

Plenty to do by train tomorrow - the weather looks very dubious this week so I haven't planned any long distance jaunts - grey photography does nothing for me!

Scarborough is only accessible via platforms 3 & 5 from York

Have you forgotten, the Night Owl was her first main line run.

Shame it was a few minutes down leaving York, it meant it was absolutly peeing it down when she came past Strensall, about 10 down see here just north of the signlabox, no water shortage here this week! Hoping for better luck on the way back :)

Well still stormy on the way back, but slightly better in being dry and she was 5 minutes early heading into York. The sun was out 90 seconds before she came into view and early impressions are that that green needs full sun to really appreciate it, but I look forward to seeing a lot more of this loco past my home this year :)

    Cheers

Cracking sight of the duchess at York. Really like the green colour they have painted her.

Fine shots Simon and Stuart, the one at Ferrybridge Stuart, is that the same location as the one you took of the Castle?
