Probably got a tree growing out of it now if the treatment of other historic coaches at Carnforth is anything to go by. They don't seem to care about them as far as I can see.

Does "Carnforth" or even WCRC actually own it? I thought it was originally bought as support coach for Duke of Gloucester. Whoever owns it a unique vehicle such as this deserves better. Might I suggest an appropriate home would be Didcot or Swindon if the current owners can no longer look after it. Ray.

It was originally bought by Alan Civil and based at the Foxfield Railway for a few years. Alan then sold it on to the Duke of Gloucester group who did indeed use it as a support coach for a while. No idea what has become of it more recently though.

I was wondering what had happened to this coach. I lead a team that did a bogie overhaul on it when it was based at Didcot. The intention at the time was to return it to mainline codition. Some work was also undertaken to establish the condition of the wiring. The main issues about returning to the mainline were the woodern frame, and the unique drawgear fitted when it was converted to a dynamometer car.
I understand that the reason this vehicle was chosen, was because it had been badly damaged in a high speed derailment just west of Didcot. Caused by the driver missing a signal controlling a low speed crossing movement.
